Ginger the “Super Dog”

“We believe in new soap and used pets. We believe dogs should be allowed everywhere. We believe in throwing a dog a bone. We believe in purebred dogs, pound puppies and rescue pooches. We believe rescue dogs know they hit the Powerball. We believe the more dogs, the better the mojo.” – Dogs are a big part of our lives at Indigo Wild.  They play together, play with us, greet customers in our retail area, visit our offices for treats, sit on our laps during meetings, eat lunch with us and add to the all around good mojo atmosphere of IW. Every dog is a part of the Indigo Wild family, and recently you may have seen our Facebook postings about our foster dog Ginger.

Ginger, a 2 year old Collie, was rescued from a puppy mill in March and quickly adapted to life at the Indigo Wild factory. Whether its playing with her best dog friend Daisy, making visits between offices, or loving up on Lindsey all day, Ginger is a big part of everyone’s lives at IW. About two weeks ago, Ginger was at the factory when we noticed that she was having trouble walking. With the help of Kansas City Sheltie Rescue (www.kcsheltierescue.org), an awesome organization who saved Ginger from the puppy mill, we took her to the vet.  After a few hours of racking our brains, we discovered that Ginger had gotten into another dog’s medicine containing Ivermectin, a drug found in many dog medications that can be extremely fatal to Collies. With the great help and new treatments being developed at the vet, Ginger was quickly treated to get the bad stuff out. Lots of prayers and good juju were sent her way during her week long stay in the hospital. A big THANK YOU goes out to our Facebook fans, friends, KC Sheltie Rescue and Indigo Wild family.  She had many visitors at the hospital, her pooch friends included. Ginger came back to work last week and definitely has a new lease on life. Her willpower and strength really has supported the fact that rescue dogs do deserve love and know when they’ve got it good. After all that, we just couldn’t let her go; Emily is adopting Ginger so that Indigo Wild is her “Furever” Home!
